I’ve been thinking really hard over the last several weeks.

Really hard.

I often wonder what fellow living brains think of.

Birds,

Ants,

Whales,

Dogs,

Poets,

Doctors,

Lovers,

Psychotics.

My mind of obsessed with deciphering this blur of reality and the complex emotions that punctuate it. I am often brought to tears just thinking of the enormity of what each of us is faced with in the world. Is this what Buddhism calls the “monkey mind”? Is it all really simple, yet veiled in aureate stimuli? Fascination with philosophers, artists, poets, and brilliant minds envelopes many of us who are deep in thought. Yet, I wish to know others and not continually repeat what has already been said and what the weather is going to be like.

Our distractions are enthralling.

I often wonder whether I’m doomed to continue into this whirlwind of existential crisis alone, for I rarely meet individuals who seem to acknowledge and attempt to digest the fact that we are an ornate species settled into infinitely complex ecosystems, flying through a universe that our minds cannot even fathom. What is going on?

The most beautifully disappointing answer is that no one knows.

We are all in this together. We can distract ourselves from the question with first world problems. I guess relaxing into a convenient world is what allows us to even ponder so deeply…

I doubt that I can do anything but continue to try to understand what the origin of all of this is. It’s a losing battle, but I can’t help myself, can you?
